Reasons To Consider Applying A Suntan Spray Instead Of Tanning

By Haywood Hunter

For many years, people who wanted to get a nice bronzed look went out and laid in the sun. While this works for the most part, it also makes you vulnerable to a number of skin conditions related to excess sun exposure. Some of them are merely annoying, while others can prove fatal. Combined, they make up the reasons to considering using a suntan spray.

Everyone has heard about the risk of skin cancer related to too much sun exposure. This is because UV light, which is in a spectrum which humans cannot see without help, is a mutagen. This means that it can damage the cells in your skin, and cause abnormal growth. Abnormally-growing cells are the definition of cancer.

UV light in naturally-occurring amounts is not normally dangerous to other parts of the body, because it does not penetrate through the skin. And most skin cancer patients are lucky, because the more common type that is diagnosed is relatively easy to treat and unlikely to spread. However, malignant melanoma is a skin cancer that is one of the most dangerous of all cancers.

Unwanted side effects of excess sun exposure are not limited to cancers. Spending too much time in the sun can also cause your skin to show effects of damage to cells in other ways. Two are these are premature and more extensive wrinkling, and the production of age spots.

It is usually pretty easy to remove the problem of excess sunlight from your life. Using a sunscreen-containing moisturizer or makeup with an SPF of at least 15 can provide everyday protection. Using a sunscreen with a higher SPF in combination with hats, long sleeves, and other protective clothing is generally good for extended outdoor exposure.

People often confuse getting sunburn with incurring skin damage. Actually, even people who rarely or never sunburn can be damaging their skin with excess exposure to the sun. Sunburning or not is not a good indicator of whether you skin is becoming damaged, and should not be relied on. This applies to both light and dark-skinned individuals.

Using a suntan spray is a great way to look good and still keep yourself healthy. Modern sprays no longer leave orange stripes or turn people bizarre colors, and can be used by almost anyone. Shades exist for a variety of realistic-looking colors, including those that gradually get darker like a tan would. Safeguard your health - use a tanner.
